Secure Business Austria 2
SBA2 focused on solid and fundamental research in the information security sector with a clear orientation towards the practical use by our industry partners and the general public.
SBA2 had four main areas of research:
- Governance, Risk and Compliance
- Data Security and Privacy
- Secure Coding and Code Analysis
- Network Security
In the course of both funding periods we participated in 48 national Non-K projects and 18 international projects. 412 publications (excluding Technical Reports and Other Publications) were issued at conferences as well as in journals and books. We are especially proud that not only national but also international newspapers and television shows reported on our research activities. The presentation of our research work and its application in practice at public discussions and talks supports society’s awareness regarding IT security. About 100 excellent researchers and security experts are working at SBA Research. Especially our efforts to promote female researchers in IT security showed success. We are furthermore proud of our intensified international exchange activities.
We initiated an Accelerator Program which addresses young entrepreneurs who want to develop and offer new security products and services. As accelerator, we provide a package of support measures to both facilitate the starting phase as well as crucially forward and advance the development phase. Furthermore, we initiated the start-up competition “Start Secure” for national participants in 2015 and extended this program in 2016 to include participants from all over Europe. The final pitches took place during the European Cybersecurity Talks at the Hofburg Vienna. This event was held in conjunction with the ACM CCS conference, one of the most prestigious top-tier security conferences, which in 2016 was hosted by SBA Research.
