Talk: Managing secrets with HashiCorp Vault and how it works with Kubernetes (demo)
By: Bernhard Waldecker
HashiCorp Vault is an identity-based secrets and encryption management system. A secret is anything that you want to tightly control access to, such as API encryption keys, passwords, and certificates. Vault provides encryption services that are gated by authentication and authorization methods. Using Vault’s UI, CLI, or HTTP API, access to secrets and other sensitive data can be securely stored and managed, tightly controlled (restricted), and auditable.
This presentation/talk will provide an introduction to the challenges of managing secrets and how HashiCorp Vault solves them. The demo will show how Kubernetes and HashiCorp Vault can be used together.
Talk: Drives you crazy – Kubernetes and Container in your Car?
By: Reinhard Kugler
The trend towards containerization does not stop at vehicles. Containers are now also being used on embedded systems in edge computing. But Kubernetes in the car – how does that work?
The software-defined vehicle is taking shape. The big players in Linux and the cloud, such as RedHat, Cannonical and SUSE, have entered the automotive arena and are working on solutions for using Linux and containers on control units in cars.
Of course, these opportunities also present risks. The list of vulnerabilities in the container environment is long. Will the same mistakes be repeated as in the cloud sector? An update
What are the dangers and what must such a platform protect itself against in order to run the applications (seat heating, infotainment, update) safely?
This presentation provides an overview of container security with a focus on embedded systems in the automotive environment.
