SBA @ OCG Annual Opening 2025 – NIS2 is just around the corner

On January 20th, the OCG Annual Opening 2025 brought together industry leaders and experts to discuss the crucial topic of information and cybersecurity. The event provided valuable insights into protecting businesses from cyber threats and meeting the requirements of the EU Network and Information Security Directive (NIS2).

OCG President Wilfried Seyruck officially opened the event, emphasizing the increasing importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital landscape.

The two keynotes were held by Hannes Federrath, University of Hamburg and Joe Pichlmayr, CEO of Ikarus. Prof. Federrath provided an in-depth analysis of the current status of NIS2 implementation in Germany and its expected future developments. Joe Pichlmayr discussed Europe’s position in the global digital landscape and the challenges of maintaining technological sovereignty.

Wolfgang Resch, OCG/OCG Cert, presented OCG’s role as a qualified body for NIS examinations, outlining its commitment to ensuring compliance and security.

During the panel discussion on Cybersecurity – reports from the field experts Rene Schmid, Head of Information Security and CISO, Stadtwerke Klagenfurt AG, Beate Stoll, Managing Director of Scerus IT and Stefan Jakoubi, Management Board and CISO at SBA Research, shared their experiences and perspectives on cybersecurity challenges.

The final presentation of the evening was given by Thomas Schaberreiter, Co-Founder of CS-AWARE, who presented the CS-AWARE-NEXT project, which demonstrates innovative approaches to raising awareness of cyber security and risk mitigation.

    The event concluded with a get-together, providing an excellent opportunity for networking and informal discussions.
