Recap: Gabriel Gegenhuber @ Mobile Security Conference in Stralsund
In September, Gabriel Gegenhuber, researcher at SBA Research and PhD candidate at the University of Vienna, presented his work on Telecommunication Security in 4G/5G Networks at the Mobile Security Conference in Stralsund, Germany.
His talk focused on methodologies for active measurements on both the radio (CSFB, VoLTE) and Internet (VoWiFi) layers. He highlighted how the MobileAtlas framework facilitates large-scale radio measurements, while new VoWiFi technologies expose parts of operator infrastructure to the public Internet, allowing for global security evaluations of commercial networks.
About the Conference
The ISMK Mobile Security Conference took place in Stralsund, bringing together leading experts, operators, and researchers to discuss mobile network and device security. Over two days, participants engaged in knowledge sharing and collaboration at iconic venues — the Ozeaneum and Stralsund Town Hall. A key highlight was an exclusive dinner at the North Sea Aquarium in the Ozeaneum, fostering deeper discussions and networking in a unique and inspiring setting.
