Congratulations to our key researcher Matteo Maffei on ERC Advanced Grant for Blockchain Security Research!

Matteo Maffei has been awarded an ERC Advanced Grant for his research into the security aspects of blockchain technologies. This is his second prestigious ERC grant, further highlighting his contributions to the field of cybersecurity.

ERC Grant Winner Matteo Maffei

Matteo Maffei and his team at the Security and Privacy Research Unit of the Institute of Logic and Computation at TU Wien are addressing critical questions about Blockchain technology like: “Are these technologies really secure? Is it possible to guarantee with mathematical certainty that such systems cannot be misused? And if not, how can this be fixed?”

The ERC Advanced Grant “BlockSec” provides approximately 2.5 million euros over five years, enabling Matteo Maffei and his TU Wien team to continue their work in blockchain security. This research enhances the security and reliability of blockchain technologies, which have significant implications for financial transactions, smart contracts, and beyond.
