On the 13th of October, Fabian Obermann presented the talk with the title “Lessons from the Past: Using Git History to Detect Software Aging and Code Weaknesses” at FH St. Pölten’s IT-Security Community Exchange (IT-SECX). This study, conducted in collaboration with Dennis Toth, Philip König and Alexander Schatten explores the aging process of software by analyzing its git history. By focusing on the evolution of the codebase, they aimed to understand the changes and vulnerabilities that emerge over time. The research emphasized that, beyond just identifying problems, analyzing git history provides insights into the patterns leading to these vulnerabilities.
