SBA Research hosted Mutual Leaning Exercise EU Delegation on “Knowledge Valorisation”
We had the great pleasure of hosting the first policy dialogue and study visit within the Mutual Learning Exercise on Knowledge Valorisation from June 19-20, 2023 in Vienna. Over the course of two days, the participants engaged in extensive discussions on incentives and skills for research talent in knowledge valorisation and intersectoral mobility.

Member State delegates examined best practices from Austria, such as the Open Innovation Strategy for Austria, the National Contact Point-IP, and the Regional Knowledge Transfer Centres. These examples were complemented by highly valuable insights from other participating countries. Together, they discussed success factors, lessons learned, and enabling framework conditions for policymakers to consider.
As part of the European Research Area (ERA) initiative, 18 countries are engaging in an intensive exchange of national strategies and experiences to enhance knowledge valorisation. This initiative aims to bolster public support for the uptake and deployment of knowledge in alignment with the new Guiding Principles for Knowledge Valorisation, and to promote attractive research careers.
Our heartfelt thanks goes to all the Austrian organizations that presented their national flagship activities and to our MLE colleagues and experts who joined us here in Vienna.
