MATRIS @ SoCS 2022

The 15th annual Symposium on Combinatorial Search (SOCS) took place at the Technical University of Vienna from the 21st of July to the 23rd of July. The conference started with the Doctoral Consortium on topics of heuristics for being a researcher and resumed with master classes on various topics such as width-based planning: searching for novelty, recent progress in the bidirectional search, suboptimal heuristic search, the elements of the search algorithm. On the second day, the main topics of the sessions were heuristic search and search and pathfinding.
Moreover, Ludwig Kampel and Michael Wagner, researchers from MATRIS Research Group of SBA Research, presented their poster on IPO-MAXSAT. IPO-MAXSAT is an algorithm designed by Ludwig Kampel, Michael Wagner, Irene Hiess, and Dimitris E. Simos that adopts the prominent IPO strategy for CA generation. The poster showcased the usage of MaxSAT solving to optimize the occurring sub-problems. As the generation of optimized CAs is a challenging combinatorial optimization problem, and IPO-MAXSAT offers a solution to this issue, the poster received significant attention from the participants.
