Abstract
Not that Simple: Email Delivery in the 21st Century’ introduces a measurement infrastructure to verify email delivery capabilities of different actors in the email ecosystem, i.e. small vs. large providers and spammers. The infrastructure helps to determine the ripeness of delivery-relevant standards and can easily be adapted to new protocols. Our results highlight interoperability challenges between large centralized operators and smaller operators, including how the ability to deliver emails as the main objective limits the adoption of new network and security protocols.
