SBA-K1 – 2nd research period started
SBA-K1, our main strategic research endeavor, has been granted continued funding for the period 2017-2025 under the FFG COMET (Competence Centers for Excellent Technologies) K1-Centres program line.
The first four years of our current COMET period (2017 – 2021) have been tremendously successful. We were able to achieve an excellent publication record, especially in A and A* conferences, we strengthened our position by amplifying important collaborations, e.g., with NIST, while establishing new ones, e.g., by becoming a member of CONCORDIA, one of the four European cyber security hubs.
We were able to keep our long-standing partners, some of them for now 15 years, while connecting to and supporting new company partners as well as promising start-ups. Thanks to more than 140 excellent researchers and experts, we are providing meaningful academic results while also significantly impacting existing and novel core products and services of our partners. We became a trusted advisor to our partners, providing important insight, and counsel, as well as training and education of their staff.
For our second research period from 2021 – 2025, we again have devised an ambitious work plan, continuing to advance the fields of our current research while tackling new challenges and entering innovative research paths, such as IoT/CPS security, security of distributed systems and distributed ledger technologies, as well as security in machine learning, thereby evolving our research agenda while meeting and addressing the needs of our partner companies.
