EU Council resolution on end-to-end encryption – interview with Edgar Weippl
Edgar Weippl (research director, SBA Research) was interviewed on planned measures against secure end-to-end encryption published by the Council of the European Union.
The resolution issued by the EU Council will give member states more legal competences to access communications protected by end-to-end encryption. Service providers should, for instance, provide options for decryption of messenger apps. +400 scientists have already signed an open letter to the Commission and the Parliament on the measures planned in the Council against encryption.
