BITCRIME: tracking extortionists and dealers
The Austrian newspaper “Der Standard” released an interesting article about the monetary system Bitcoin and how it is often used in connection with crimes such as ransomware and money laundering. The German-Austrian project BITCRIME, with SBA Research as project partner, explores strategies against this kind of abuse. The project focuses on researching innovative solutions for the identification, prevention and reduction of organized financial crime, such as money laundering, with particular regard for virtual currencies (or more exactly decentralized virtual cryptographic currencies).
